The Mets added a second World Series title in 1986. They came back from 3-2 down to beat the Boston Red Sox in seven games. Oddly enough, Dave Johnson, who made the final out for the Baltimore Orioles when they lost the 1969 World Series to the Mets, managed the 1986 Mets to the title.
There’s been quite the dry spell ever since. The Mets lost the 2000 World Series to the crosstown New York Yankees in five games. They fell in five games to the Kansas City Royals in the 2015 World Series.
There was a belief that 2021 would be the year of a Mets resurgence and for much of the summer, it was not a belief without substance. From April 13 through August 6, the Mets held at least a share of first place in the NL East every day. They led the division by as much as 5.5 games on more than one occasion.
The Mets entered the month of August leading the NL East by 4.5 games. However, a 1-8 start to the month saw them slide out of top spot. Today, the chances of the Mets qualifying for the postseason appear remote. However, odds are still being offered on the possibilities.

In the NL Cy Young Award betting lines, deGrom is at +25000. He was the preseason favorite, but arm woes derailed deGrom’s season.
In both 2018 and 2019, deGrom won the NL Cy Young Award.
